Activity: Unity installation & 2D Platformer Microgame

Invested time: ~1-2h (most of the time spent downloading)

Notes:

I'm already fairly experienced with Unity, so this task was all about just getting the right Unity version, getting the right asset (2D Platformer Microgame), and waiting for it all to download. I had tried this first on my laptop initially, but the performance was horrendous because it's already fairly old and lower-end. I hadn't progressed much there though, save for testing out the tilemap editor, so getting everything set up again on my desktop was a breeze.

My previous experience with Unity only involved 2D in terms of UI, and very limited work with sprites, otherwise I've only ever dealt with 3D and scripting. Always nice to test out new things this way!

The only real problem during importing was one class name conflict, as Unity implements a type with the same name now, but that was easy enough to resolve by renaming the type. Shame the tutorial project is out of date now, but it's just an intro project anyway.

Outcome:

Unity installed just fine, asset import went through well, build succeeded without a problem.
